At Transylvania Regional Hospital (TRH), our ER isn’t just a place for emergent care — it’s where our neighbors turn in some of life’s most difficult and unexpected moments. Whether it's a heart attack, stroke, traumatic injury, or another serious condition, our dedicated emergency care team is here 24/7, ready to provide expert care with compassion.

We understand that when you or someone you love walks through our doors, time matters. That’s why our ER team works in tight coordination with emergency medical services (EMS), hospital staff, and regional specialists to ensure patients receive timely, well-orchestrated care from the very first moment.

Teamwork is at the heart of what we do. Nurses, providers, radiology, respiratory therapy, and registration staff all communicate closely to ensure every patient receives seamless care. We stay connected with EMS while they're en route, so our team is fully prepared the moment an ambulance arrives.

Behind the scenes, we’re always working to improve. Our emergency care team regularly reviews processes, looks at outcomes, and collaborates across departments to identify where we can do better — not because it’s required, but because our patients deserve the best.

In a rural region like ours, it’s essential to bring advanced care as close to home as possible. That’s why we’ve invested in telemedicine tools that link our team to specialists at Mission Hospital within minutes — whether it’s a neurologist for a potential stroke or a cardiologist for a heart issue. This is part of our commitment to becoming a certified Stroke-Ready hospital, ensuring patients can get life-saving treatment faster, right here in our community.

We’re especially proud to care for our aging population, with nearly a third of our residents over age 65. Our team has expertise in geriatric emergency care, ensuring that older adults receive appropriate, thoughtful, and respectful treatment.

At TRH, emergency care is about people — our neighbors, friends, and family members — and how we show up for them when it matters most. Our dedicated emergency providers and staff feel honored to serve this community, and we will continue working hard to ensure you receive high-quality, compassionate care — anytime you need us.
