Wound care

Wound care involves medical interventions to heal a wound after injury. Specialized treatment is provided for wounds that are nonhealing or refuse to heal on their own. A vital aspect of treatment includes learning how to properly dress and care for a wound.

Wound care services we offer

Our wound specialists know the importance of attentive care for chronic and hard-to-heal wounds.

Diagnostic wound care

Our experts continually monitor your wound and measure its blood and oxygen levels through a number of tests, such as:

  • Ankle-brachial index (ABI) testing
  • Doppler testing
  • Transcutaneous oxygen monitoring (TCOM)

These tests also provide insights that allow our team to map out a detailed care plan and determine your candidacy for specialized treatments.

Nonsurgical wound care

Medical wound treatments help prevent infections and promote healing. Our team provides a variety of procedures and treatments to care for your wound site, including:

  • Advanced topical dressings and products
  • Biological dressings
  • Compression wraps
  • Debridement
  • Growth factor therapy
  • Negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT)
  • Total contact casting
  • Unna boots

Further care we provide includes foot and nail care to avoid injury, as well as offloading to keep weight off of any affected extremities.

Surgical wound care

Wounds which are extremely complex or don't respond to treatments may require surgery. If this is the case, surgical evaluation and planning allow our specialists to determine the treatment plan for complicated conditions, such as nonhealing, limb- and life-threatening wounds.

Surgical wound procedures we offer include:

  • Ostomy care
  • Skin grafts
  • Skin substitutes

After surgery, our team offers follow-up care and education as well as outpatient support and group meetings for you and your family.
