Acute overuse and sports injuries

We know that your feet and ankles are critical for your mobility, carrying your body’s weight and allowing you to walk, run and perform daily activities. Pain or an injury can greatly impact your quality of life, making it difficult to perform once-routine tasks. If you are suffering from foot or ankle pain that limits your mobility, our fellowship-trained orthopedic foot and ankle surgeons and nonsurgical orthopedic physicians have the specialized knowledge and expertise to treat all foot and ankle disorders, from common to complex.

We offer care for the foot and ankle at our offices in Asheville, Brevard, Clyde, Franklin, Hendersonville, Marion and Spruce Pine. If you have experienced a sudden injury, such as an ankle sprain, or have developed persistent pain over time in the bones, tendons or muscles that affect your gait, it is important to receive proper orthopedic care of the foot and ankle to restore function.

Our primary care sports medicine physicians and foot and ankle surgeons provide care for all acute, overuse and sports injuries, including:

  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Tendon and ligament injuries
  • Fractures and sprains of the foot and ankle
  • Lisfranc injuries
  • Achilles tendon injuries and ruptures

Arthritis care of the ankle

If you're suffering from chronic joint pain or arthritis of the ankle, our foot and ankle specialists offer specialized procedures and care. We provide a variety of conservative and nonsurgical options, including joint injections and bracing. If conservative options fail, we offer total ankle replacement procedures to replace the damaged bone and tissue of the ankle to reduce your joint pain. On the forefront of the latest procedures, we offer computerized tomography (CT) guided total ankle replacement, allowing the surgeon to place the implant with a new level of precision. The patient-specific placement results in a more natural feeling ankle and range of movement.
